Christmas is officially here and so many events and activities happening in London. Here are my favourite things taking place in London during December 2023:

1. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland – Hyde Park

Is Winter Wonderland free entry?

Only during off-peak hours. An adult ticket for Winter Wonderland will cost £5 during standard times and £7.50 during peak times.

What dates is Winter Wonderland in London?

Winter Wonderland will be open to the public from Friday November 17 until Monday January 1, 2024.

How to get tickets?

Easy! If you’re looking to visit at a popular time (such as weekends, or once the school holidays start), then pre-book your tickets via Winter Wonderland’s website to make sure you get in with no fuss. You’ll be asked to select a two hour timeslot to arrive within. There’s also the option to snag a ticket on the door, although these spots are subject to availability.

Tips for visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park

This winter spectacle is super popular every year, but there’s a couple of things that are good to know before you go.

The queues can get pretty long, so we recommend booking your tickets in advance. Plus, there’s so much to explore that you need to leave a fair bit of time — it tends to take about three hours. Make sure you wrap up warm, too!

2. Christmas at Kenwood – Kenwood House, Hampstead Heath

Kenwood House is installing a new Christmas light trail at its stately location on Hampstead Heath. This year, Londoners are in for a treat with 13 brand new installations promised as well as a whole new look for the annual light show.

One of central London’s biggest and fanciest shopping destinations, Regent Street was the very first road in London to feature Christmas lights back in 1954, and still boasts one of the most impressive displays each winter.

Carnaby Street

A London Christmas staple, Carnaby Street’s lights are typically pretty special, illuminating the street with eccentric, fun-loving tributes from everything from rock bands to robins to outer space. This year, the street is promising to transport Londoners to a ‘Carnaby Universe’ a ‘moving vortex’ of neon colour and light waves.

Covent Garden

There’s arguably nowhere in London more Christmassy than Covent Garden’s Piazza in December. The Winter Warmer Festival promises plenty of mulled wine and Christmas pop-ups, so make sure you make it to Covent Garden this festive season — just prepare to brace the crowds.
